The original Plymouth School of Art, an independent specialist art college, was opened in the year 1856 and was originally founded as an Art School. The College awards foundation degrees and BA (Hons) degrees.

Yelverton Golf Club - Yelverton
Situated just ten miles north of Plymouth, on Roborough Down within the Dartmoor National Park;the course has extensive views across the moors and across the Tamar Valley to Cornwall. Considered by many to be one of the South West's best courses, it is a delightful 18 hole course with great character, that is testing yet fair to all standards of golfer. The course is built on the site of the old Yeoland Consuls mine workings, and is renowned for a variety of interesting ravines caused by the past mining activities;these natural features have been used to enhance the degree of difficulty of several of the holes. The club has good practice facilities, with a putting and chipping green in front of the club-house, an indoor practice net, and a 'state of the art' indoor Teaching Academy at the rear of the building.
Whitsand Bay Hotel and Golf Club - Portewrinkle
Standing proud above the rugged Cornish coastline stands the magnificent country house that is the Whitsand Bay Hotel & Golf Club. An easy 20-minute drive from the busy maritime city of Plymouth, this spectacular venue is steeped in history and tradition. Set between Crafthole and the sea at Portwrinkle the course has dramatic panoramic coastal views. The course was laid by Fernie of Troon in 1905 and although Max Faulkner holds the course record of 62 set in 1947, it is designed for the holiday golfer as well as the serious club golfer. Challenging holes mingle with straightforward holes with dramatic views. A fabulous place to learn, play and compete.

Plymouth Argyle Football Club
During 2001 Home Park was transformed, with three sides of the ground being completely re-built. Both the ends and one side of the ground has been replaced , by single tiered, covered all seated stands. Most impressively the corners between these stands have been filled so that the ground is totally enclosed on those sides. This just leaves just the Grandstand at one side of the pitch, as the only remnant of the old Home Park. This classic looking stand dates back to the late 1940's, is partly covered, with seating at the rear and a large terrace at the front. Home Park is the most westerly and southerly League Ground in England.

Cotehele - St Dominick
At the heart of this riverside estate sits the granite and slatestone house of Cotehele, built mainly between 1485 and 1560 with later modifications, and a home of the Edgcumbe family for centuries. Intimate chambers feature large Tudor fireplaces and rich hangings. Outside, the formal gardens overlook the richly planted valley garden below, with medieval dovecote, stewpond and Victorian summer house, and 18th-century tower above. At the Quay interesting old buildings house the Edgcumbe Arms tea-room and an outstation of the National Maritime Museum. The restored Tamar sailing barge Shamrock is moored alongside. A network of footpaths throughout the estate provides a variety of riverside and woodland walks with nature conservation and industrial archaeology interest.
